SEK-Catalunya 2nd year Baccalaureate students participate in solidary actions in Canary Islands

A group of 2nd year Baccalaureate and Diploma Program students, who follow the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, have traveled to the island of La Palma, Canary Islands, affected by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano that occurred last September 2021, to carry out cleaning and reconstruction tasks.

They have already cleaned 8 kilometers of the GR130 route and collaborate in cleaning beaches and removing ash thrown by the volcano on houses and common spaces. The principal of SEK-Catalunya, Roberto Prata, has joined the project.

This activity is part of the DofE program to obtain the Gold Award diploma, the highest accreditation, and this group of students is the first to achieve it at SEK-Catalunya.
