As part of one of the Summer SEK activities at SEK-Catalunya, students worked on the attribute Caring, one of the values that forms part of the IB Learner Profile. Through different activities and discussions, they reflected on the importance of helping others, understanding different realities, and taking action to make a positive impact on society.
As part of this experience, they learned about the work carried out by Fundació Mona, an organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of primates that have suffered from abuse, captivity, or exploitation. Discovering the foundation’s mission helped students understand that caring and compassion can also extend to the protection and welfare of animals.
The activity did not end with reflection alone. The students themselves decided to take an extra step and voluntarily participated in the Solidarity Shop to support the foundation. They realized that caring is not just a value to talk about, but an attitude that can be transformed into meaningful actions capable of making a real difference.
Summer SEK aims to create experiences that spark curiosity, foster empathy, and help shape individuals who are committed to their communities and determined to contribute to building a better world.
